Smiles Clinic welcomes eligible Canadian Dental Care Plan patients. If you already have active CDCP coverage, call our Scarborough clinic to discuss your dental needs and request an appointment.
Have your CDCP member information ready when you call.

CDCP coverage is not the same for every patient or service. Eligibility, coverage, frequency limits, preauthorization requirements, and any amount you may need to pay should be confirmed before treatment.
We focus on the parts of dental care that matter when you are deciding where to book and how to move forward.
You do not have access to private dental insurance or coverage
You and your spouse or common-law partner, if applicable, have filed the required Canadian tax returns.
Your adjusted family net income is less than $90,000.
You are a Canadian resident for tax purposes.
Eligibility is determined by the Government of Canada, not by the dental clinic. Requirements and application details may change. Visit Canada.ca/dental for the current rules and to apply or renew.
The plan’s contribution is based on established CDCP fees, not necessarily the clinic’s regular fees.
| Adjusted family net income | CDCP portion | Your co-payment |
|---|---|---|
| Below $70,000 | Up to 100% | 0% |
| $70,000–$79,999 | Up to 60% | 40% |
| $80,000–$89,999 | Up to 40% | 60% |
The CDCP covers a range of oral health services when eligibility, clinical criteria, frequency limits, and other plan rules are met. Services that may be covered include:
Dental examinations and X-rays.
Scaling or professional cleaning, polishing, fluoride treatment, and sealants when applicable.
Tooth-coloured fillings and other eligible restorative services.
Eligible endodontic services when clinically appropriate.
Certain complete and partial removable dentures.
Eligible services for gum health, including scaling and root planing.
Eligible tooth extractions and other oral surgery services.
Not every service is covered in every situation. Some treatments require preauthorization, supporting documentation, or may be subject to frequency limits. A dental assessment is needed before treatment can be recommended.
Make sure you have been approved and that your coverage is active. Your welcome package or Sun Life information will show your coverage start date.
Tell us you plan to use CDCP coverage and have your member information ready.
The dentist will assess your oral health and discuss any recommended treatment.
Before treatment, review the service, whether preauthorization is needed, and any amount that may not be covered
Proceed only after the treatment plan and available cost information have been explained to you.
Yes. Smiles Clinic accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan for eligible patients. Please have your CDCP information ready when you call.
Not always. The amount paid depends on your adjusted family net income, the service, CDCP-established fees, coverage limits, and plan rules. You may need to pay a co-payment or additional charges.
No. CDCP helps pay for eligible services, but it does not guarantee that every service or the full clinic fee will be covered.
No. The Government of Canada determines eligibility. Visit Canada.ca/dental for current eligibility, application, and renewal information.
Some services require approval before treatment to be eligible for coverage. The need for preauthorization depends on the service and CDCP rules. Approval does not guarantee payment if your eligibility or coverage changes before the date of service.
Bring identification, your CDCP member information, relevant health and dental information, and a list of current medications.
Generally, you must not have access to private dental insurance or coverage to qualify. Government social dental programs may be coordinated with CDCP. Check the current eligibility rules on Canada.ca.
Contact Smiles Clinic to discuss your dental concern and request an appointment. Please have your CDCP information available when you call.
